Mini Movers is a pre-school aged class which explores the imagination of a child through music and movement.
Each class allows the children to explore themes and topics! Classes are fun-filled whilst also teaching the foundations of Dance techniques such as Ballet, Tap and Creative Dance.
Fun fact: Sam has helped choreograph huge shows & helps to bring them to life in Alder Hey Hospital Children's Ward.
Trained from age 9 by the Shukokai Shitaryu UK team coach, Paul Graham, Sam is a 4th Dan Black Belt Grading Officer. Sam is also a professional dancer qualified to degree level, with certifications in dance and movement grading.
Sam is a formidable force, filled with passion and drive to deliver the best classes and services in the North West. Sam extended her education with dreams of expanding her business in the areas of health and fitness which has now become a reality - Well done Sam!
Sam is currently working hard to build more Purple Gecko programmes that will be rolled out through local councils and education establishments, helping to make Dance & Martial Arts accessible for all.
Rebecca has trained in Ballet, Tap and Modern under the ISTD syllabus since the age of 3, shortly after taking on Jazz, Street Dance and Drama and Vocal lessons at Glenda Hill Theaterworks. She is also trained in Contemporary and Lyrical Jazz and holds an A-Level each in dance and drama, as well as a First Class Degree in Dance, Drama and Aerial Performance. Rebecca is a DDE qualified member of the ISTD and also holds a chair-based dance qualification called ‘Dancing Memories’ and qualifications based around mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
Rebecca has performed on numerous stages including the Manchester Palace Theatre and the M&S Arena, Liverpool. She has performed as a backing dancer for a tribute act, in Liverpool Light Night Festival and even for our late Queen when she was much younger! Rebecca was offered the role of Dance Captain for a professional contract in Greece, but sadly it was not meant to be due to covid. Rebecca comments that she still has a great passion for performing and hopes to continue to grow her performance experience alongside teaching and bringing dance to the community!
Rebecca has a notable passion for teaching and performance, but also for making dance more accessible. She champions opening up dance and performance to children and adults with additional needs or disabilities because she believes that everyone should have the right and opportunity to dance. She comments that dance is much more than just moving around a studio - it aids health, mental health, culture, religion and inclusivity and understanding of all of these things.
Our students thoroughly enjoy Rebecca’s classes and we feel lucky to have her at Purple Gecko!
Fun Fact: Christine’s first professional review described her as a “Sexy Margaret Thatcher”
Christine has been really lucky to have had a varied career as a dancer, production singer, actor and presenter. Christine started working professionally as a child with her first performance in a pantomime at age 11. Christine has worked all over the world and has performed many styles. She comments that she never imagined she’d get the opportunity of Belly dancing in Morocco and Bollywood in Germany.
Christine still works professionally from time to time, and takes weekly classes in Ballet, Tap, Musical Theatre and Stretch and Flex at Purple Gecko.
We are fortunate to have such a well rounded teacher at Purple Gecko!
Fun fact: I performed in the professionals on ice tour with the dancing on ice Professionals
Jenna currently works in teaching at schools and at Purple Gecko where she shares her passion of dance through the fun and creative teaching methods she has learnt from her years of professional dance training.
Jenna started as a Purple Gecko student at the age of 9 where her passion for dance began. Jenna then continued to study dance in high-school and received a distinction in Level 2 BTEC in Dance. She went on to develop her studies at dance college, where she also graduated with Distinction at Level 3.
Within her time at college, Jenna performed at Dance World Cup winning Gold in 2021 and Bronze in 2022. In addition, she also performed at multiple gigs at ‘Camp and Furnace’ and even filmed for Britain’s Got Talent.
Jenna has a bubbly personality that is portrayed in her teaching style. Jenna has always loved teaching and helped out with the younger classes when she was a student at Purple Gecko. Jenna will pass on her love for dance and performing to all her students, creating memories for all the children and providing them with opportunities to be inspired!
We are delighted to have Jenna on board as an emerging dance co-ordinator. To be able to give back to our past students is extremely rewarding, and Jenna is a wonderful example to our current students of what they can achieve!
